Join us on Wednesday April 13th at 10:00 am in the Community Center, when Arn Kind presents The Great Northfield Bank Raid: Minnesotans Foil the James/Younger Gang.The presenter, Mr. Arn Kind, a teacher of over 40 years experience, will come in costume, to discuss the events of September 7th, 1876, when the James/Younger Gang rode in to Northfield, Minnesota to conduct a daring, daylight raid on the First National Bank of Northfield. Learn why this bank was chosen, the shootout that ensued, and the end of the James/Younger Gang. This free program has been funded with Legacy Funds through the State Of Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.

Join us on Monday June 20th at 10:00 am in the Community Center Room, when Colin Mustful, Minnesota author, historian, and publisher, will present the program The U.S. – Dakota War of 1862: A Historical Context. The U.S. – Dakota War of 1862 was a watershed event with a major, long-lasting impact. Colin’s presentation will trace the history of the U.S. – Dakota War beginning in 1805 when the Dakota signed the Pike Treaty at Bdote. He will cover multiple perspectives and events, that over time, contributed to the Mankato hanging and the expulsion of the Dakota and Ho-Chunk peoples from Minnesota to Crow Creek, South Dakota. This program is sponsored by the Ivanhoe Public Library.
