The U.S. – Dakota War of 1862: A Historical Context
Join us on Monday June 20th at 10:00 am in the Community Center Room, when Colin Mustful, Minnesota author, historian, and publisher, will present the program The U.S. – Dakota War of 1862: A Historical Context. The U.S. – Dakota War of 1862 was a watershed event with a major, long-lasting impact. Colin’s presentation will trace the history of the U.S. – Dakota War beginning in 1805 when the Dakota signed the Pike Treaty at Bdote. He will cover multiple perspectives and events, that over time, contributed to the Mankato hanging and the expulsion of the Dakota and Ho-Chunk peoples from Minnesota to Crow Creek, South Dakota.
