Graphic Novels: Books Kids Love to Read

Currently one of the hottest trends in children’s literature are graphic novels. Their colorful illustrations and engaging text, encourage younger readers to pick up a book and read. The story lines in graphic novels feature fun characters, with complex plots featuring many twists and turns, helping students to improve their reading comprehension. Over the summer we have added several graphic novels series to our shelves for elementary school students. They are Dog Man by Dav Pilkey, Sparks by Ian Boothey, Cat Wad by Jim Benton, and Bad Guys by Aaron Blabey.

Older students also enjoy graphic novels and for them we have Captain America and Iron Man by Marvel Comics, Flash by DC Universe, Ghosts by Raina Telgemeier, Roller Girl by by Victoria Jamiesan, Real Friends by Shannon Hale and the Lighting Thief series by Rick Riordan.
